TLC传奇始于1992年，来自乔治亚州亚特兰大市、唱着嘻哈曲风的三人女子团体——Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins、Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas及Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes，从发行首张专辑《Ooooooohhh...On the TLC Tip》开始，以服装别满保险套的古怪行径，马上吸引众人的眼光，加上俏皮可爱又超级活力十足的音乐录像带，及一首朗朗上口的饶舌畅销单曲Ain't Too Proud To Beg，马上为她们带来全美200多万张的专辑销售佳绩！
　　1994年，TLC再接再厉地发行了第二张专辑《CrazySexyCool》，更是一举为左眼Lisa、Chilli与T-Boz带来空前的突破，不但赢得全球的声望与掌声，更为她们赢得了两座葛莱美“最佳节奏蓝调专辑”、“最佳节奏蓝调团体”大奖。在首支双白金单曲Creep之后，Waterfalls再将TLC推向颠峰——Waterfalls的音乐录像带一举囊括1996年MTV音乐录像带大奖的“年度最佳音乐录像带”、“最佳节奏蓝调音乐录像带”、“最佳团体音乐录像带”及“观众票选”四项大奖荣耀，还有灵魂列车音乐奖的“最佳节奏蓝调/灵魂或饶舌音乐录像带”、“最佳节奏蓝调/灵魂音乐单曲”两座大奖。接下来专辑本身的表现，让TLC被告示牌杂志提名为“年度艺人”，专辑在全美销售也超过700万张的佳绩。

　　就在全球歌迷的期待下，TLC于2001年后期开始灌录她们的第四张专辑《3D》，录音过程持续到2002年4月之际，却传来让全球TLC歌迷痛苦扼腕的悲剧——左眼Lisa于2002年4月25日在洪都拉斯渡假时车祸去世了，享年仅32岁（1971-2002）！至此，录音工作完全中断。不过，T-Boz与Chilli都决定要坚强的继续完成此张新作。折翼后的TLC首次在2002年8月30日MTV音乐录像带奖颁奖典礼上出现，T-Boz与Chilli含泪宣布成立多发性硬化症病患助学基金来纪念Lisa。
